《出埃及記》並非古典樂曲，是現代作曲家Ernest Gold為電影《出埃及記》所作.Ernest Gold生於維也納一個音樂世家，受祖父和父親影響，他5歲已開始獨立作曲。1938年納粹佔領奧地利，他移居美國，並開始創作流行歌曲。1945年開始進入電影界，陸續為一些影片配樂。1959年以《在海灘上》獲好萊塢外國新聞記者協會最佳電影音樂金球獎及奧斯卡最佳電影配樂提名；次年以《出埃及記》榮獲第33屆奧斯卡最佳劇情片配樂金像獎。1963年又以《瘋狂世界》獲奧斯卡最佳電影配樂提名。其它主要有《江湖好漢》、《逃獄驚魂》、《紐倫堡審判》、《桑塔．維圖裡亞的秘密》、《鐵十字》等。
